Google’s Business Agent Can Qualify Search Leads While Sales Sleeps
The ad experience is shifting from ‘contact us’ to a grounded first conversation that answers, filters, and captures demand.
A 24/7 lead agent can reduce response delay, but it needs approved source content, qualification rules, consent, escalation, and CRM reconciliation before it represents the business unattended.
Google’s Business Agent for Leads can answer detailed questions, collect lead information, and qualify high-intent prospects before handing them to sales. It remains active outside office hours and grounds its responses in the advertiser’s website content, which Google presents as protection against off-brand or invented answers.
This targets a common leak: somebody clicks, has one important question, sees a form, and promises to return later. Later is a mythical place where many leads live happily without buying. A useful conversation can shorten that gap, but only if the agent knows the truth and understands when to stop talking.
Build an approved knowledge set covering services, locations, eligibility, prices, exclusions, timelines, warranties, and contact routes. Remove outdated pages and contradictory claims. Define questions requiring a person, especially regulated advice, complaints, custom pricing, accessibility needs, or sensitive personal situations.
Design qualification around genuine compatibility, not maximum data collection. Ask only what sales needs, explain consent, protect sensitive information, and provide an easy human handoff. Test misspellings, Bangla-English mixing, hostile prompts, unusual hours, and questions whose honest answer is ‘we need to check.’ That sentence can build more trust than a confident invention.
